Our friends at the Deaf School camp have news on a few upcoming gigs around the UK. Here’s Mark Adamson:
After the success of the UK and Japan tour earlier in the year, Deaf School (featuring, of course, Madness producer Clive Langer on guitar and Bette Bright, Suggs’ better half, on vocals) are preparing for four more gigs this month, including two at the Everyman in Liverpool and follow-up dates in Chester and London!
17 & 18 June Everyman, Liverpool
19 June The Laugh Inn, Chester
22 June Monto Water Rats Theatre, London
The two Everyman performances on Friday and Saturday 17 and 18 June, which are almost sold out, mark the end of the line for the world-famous Everyman Theatre before closure, demolition and rebuild. They are Deaf School’s salute to the Everyman Theatre’s proud history and exciting future. The band is then straight on to The Laugh Inn at Chester, a great new venue, the following night. On Wednesday 22 June they round off their short tour with an appearance at the historic Water Rats Theatre in London’s Kings Cross.

Referring to the fact that former band member Paul Pilnick (also of The Big Three and Stealers Wheel fame) will be joining the band for the gigs, Clive Langer (or The Prince of Clang as Paul calls him) says: “It’s a different dynamic having two guitars, it’s not since 1976 that Paul and I have sparred together, and when we’re both going for it, the sparks fly, the glass cracks and everyone looks around to see if there’s a screaming cat in the room, so watch out!”
