This is rich. I'm watching the local news and there's a story on "patients" in need of medical marijuana who can't afford to pay for the weed. So there's a class at the Continuing Education Annex of the University of New Mexico that is going to teach these "patients" how to grow their own pot.

They will be given seedlings and will be graded on their success in growing the "medicine." Needless to say, it's the first class at Continuing Ed that was fully enrolled within minutes. They're talking about adding a second class.

Why Steve, just what are you insinuating? That this perfectly normal course on how to grow illegal drugs for medical, non money-making purposes may be used for less honourable reasons? Shame on you. I think you need to chill out. In fact, I know the perfect class you can take that will have you relaxed in no time.

No no, you misunderstood me. What I was getting at was I was surprised at just how many very ill people there are and, gosh darnit, I never realized what a spectacular cure-all marijuana is.

Yes, and I’ve got a feeling they’ll be even more ill people in New Mexico if more classes are announced, though of course that will just be a fantastic coincidence. Still, if nothing else at least attendance in class will always be high, in more ways than one.

it's a strong painkiller Steve, overhere you can get it from your GP. it also can be used to treat the sickness that occurs with Chemotherapy and radiation therapy. and believe me, there are very many people suffering from that. very good they are helping people by teaching them how to grow their own medication.

No disrespect to medical marijuana, it's simply suspect that the class filled up so quickly, considering you have to be licensed to grow marijuana in New Mexico and this is the only way the average citizen can get such a license. Call me a (justified) cynic, I'm convinced not everyone is there to kill pain in a medical manner.

in Germany docs also know about the healing effect and pain killer use of it in therapies..
but actually if police finds you with it in your blood stream you are fined again..
so, in the end you are ill and fined..

I just hope they check each person properly before they let them enrol. The drug when used and regulated can have great medicinal properties for people who are truly suffering, but I think the bigger the programme expands the more difficult it will be to thoroughly check that what is being taught isn’t being abused and taken out of context. I’m not a cynical person by nature, but I just don’t think that this has been properly thought through and I suspect so many problems will arise that it won’t last long, which will cause more distress to those who could genuinely benefit.
