Madness Central Downloads Wonderful Generic Radio Interview Wonderful Generic Radio Interview with Suggs, Woody and Lee 1999 saw the twentieth anniversary of Madness, as well as a full seven years since their reformation at Madstock in Finsbury Park. While excitement and gig attendence remained high for the middle-aged Madness, the question on fingers and tongues was singular: When would they put out a new album? Wonderful, released that year, answered the question succinctly. Here was new Madness. And new Madness needed much promotion. There were concerts on barges that year. There was a short stint in the US to premier many of these songs. There were innumerable interviews bandied about in print, on web, and through the airwaves. What all this meant was the band's time and resources were being stretched molarity thin. Their handlers at record label Virgin came up with a wicked plan. Why not create a pre-recorded interview with stock questions that could be piped onto any number of radio stations across the UK, saving the band their precious time and most likely Virgin Records a fair fistful of dosh? This is what was decided upon, and this Generic Radio Interview with Suggs, Woody and Lee was the result. Care to know the answer to the question, "Why has it taken so long to get round to recording a new Madness album?" Or perhaps more existentially, "As for 'The Wizard' - is that your bid to get a song into the forthcoming Harry Potter movie?" Download now and all will be revealed! Included within the zip file is the entire interview with 35 tracks along with scans of the front and back covers of the cd sleeve. The back cover is important as it is the transcription of questions the radio DJs would ask in the blank spaces between answers.
