Madness Central Downloads  BBC In Concert #376
MADNESS: BBC In Concert #376

When it came to Madness radio transcriptions, no entity did it better than the BBC. With their "In Concert" series, listeners were treated to the latest hits and more often than not an as yet unreleased song from a forthcoming record. Such is the case this vinyl LP radio transcription, with introduction by famed British radio personality Richard Skinner. A recording of the Hammersmith Odeon concert in London during the Mad Not Mad Tour, the song "For Better Forever" (which was eventually released by The Madness as "4BF") made its premier to a public rightfully ravenous for anything new coming on board the Nutty Train.

Interestingly, and for the anoraks, it was often suspected that the acronym "4BF" stood in for "For Bryan Ferry", which makes sense when you look at the "4BF" song icon on The Madness' CD album... the graphic looks like Bryan Ferry, signature bangs and all. This radio transcription throws a touch of doubt upon that ascertation, though. Refer to the radio cue sheets (scans of the original cue sheets accompany these zip files). Of course, it might be editorial artistic license on the part of the BBC, as the song "Keep Moving" is referred to as "Moving Along" on the same cue sheets.

Included with these downloads are audio rips side one and side two of the radio transcription BBC In Concert Show #376, direct off the original vinyl, as well as scans of the two original cue sheets (one a biography, one the radio cueing, both front and back) and the record labels for both sides of the LP.

Side One:
Moving Along, Samantha, Michael Caine, Mad Not Mad, My Girl, Tomorrow's Dream, House of Fun, For Better For Ever.

Side Two:
Yesterday's Men, Time, It Must Be Love, Shut Up, Uncle Sam, Embarrassment, I'll Compete, Baggy Trousers
