Madness - "Total Madness" Radio 2 Documentary - Broadcast 12th June 1999
The group Madness were the chart success story of the eighties enjoying 16 top 10 hits! To mark the band's 20th anniversary, Madness are poised for a major reunion in June 1999 and Wise Buddha celebrates their return with a major documentary programme.
The group have still kept in close contact playing and working together and with the 20th anniversary in 1999 Wise Buddha (the programme's producers for Radio 2) have been assured that the band are to celebrate on a major scale with a brand new album.
Rediscover baggy trousers, flying saxophone players and parachuting vans in this one off special "They Call It Madness". Hear all seven band members reflecting on their initial success and speculate on what is to come as they complete their first new album of 13 years and prepare for a major tour.
Of great interest in 1999, this documentary was fans' first chance to hear the final studio versions of the new songs "Johnny The Horse" and "4 AM" (albeit less than two minute clips of both songs).
