On the 17th of September, 2005, Madness took to the stage in Devore, California, at the supermassive Hyundai Pavilion settled at the base of the equally supermassive San Bernardino Mountains. It was the 5th Annual Miller Lite Inland Invasion, as hosted by KROQ 106.7 FM of Los Angeles.
Sharing the lights and mikes that day were Beck, Bloq Party, The Bravery, Cake, Garbage, Jet, Live, Oasis, 311, The Arcade Fire, and hometown favourites Weezer. Without question, Madness stole the show that sunny autumn day (and night, but not so sunny at night). If you dare to question, then you're at the wrong website. Madness rules all.
Included with this zip file you'll find the Inland Invasion performance (no complaints about the overblown sound quality - I did what I could with the source file), a scan of the promotional gig flyer, and a bonus track of "One Step Beyond" from the Troubadour gig in West Hollywood a few nights later on 20 September (no complaints about the sound quality on this one either - I dropped the recorder to the floor where it was kicked about before it finally got kicked to the "off" position - if you listen, you'll hear beer bottles being booted around as well).
